Who they suit

Veneers suit teeth that are chipped, worn short, uneven or stained in a way whitening cannot reach. They are not the answer for everyone. If one tooth has a small chip, bonding costs a fraction and keeps more of your own enamel, and if your teeth are crowded, aligners first can mean fewer veneers later. We will tell you which, in writing, before you spend anything.

Three visits, about a month.

  1. I

    Design

    75 minutes

A 3D scan, photographs and a digital preview of the new shape and shade. Then a resin mock-up goes over your own teeth, so you can see it in a mirror and live with it for an evening.

  2. II

    Prepare

    2 hours

With numbing (and sedation if you like), about half a millimeter is shaped from the front of each tooth. You leave in well-fitted temporaries that match the mock-up.

  3. III

    Fit

    2 hours

Two to three weeks later the porcelain arrives. We try each veneer in, check color in daylight, bond them, and fine-tune your bite.

  4. —

    Check

    2 weeks on

A short visit to check gums and bite, and a night guard if you grind. Included in the price.

About veneers

Will they look fake?

Not if the shape suits your face and the shade suits your skin, which is why you see a mock-up in your own mouth before anything is made. You can ask for changes at that point at no cost.

How many will I need?

Most people need six to ten upper teeth, the ones that show when you smile. Some need only two. Your preview will show exactly which.

Do they stain?

Porcelain resists stains far better than enamel. Coffee and red wine are fine; we still recommend cleanings twice a year.

What does a typical case cost?

Six veneers usually come to about $9,900 before insurance, which rarely covers cosmetic work. Monthly plans are available, subject to lender approval.
